Call-ing on everyone again!

Keeps those phones ringing off the hooks people. Jam the lines until they kill this bill. Stay vigilant, stay at the ready, and don’t let this stuff slip by with out so much as a two minute phone call. Isn’t your freedom worth two minutes?

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi reportedly suggested that Congress might soon take action on a bill that could rubberstamp the NSA’s spying program. The Bush Administration is trying to sell its latest proposal as a serious compromise, but don’t be fooled — it represents an unprecedented power grab that endangers the checks and balances that define our democracy. Please call your representatives now before it’s too late.

Contrary to the Administration’s characterizations, its “FISA Modernization” bill is not simply about “updating” the law and allowing surveillance of foreign-to-foreign communications. Instead, it could radically expand the government’s ability to spy on Americans without a warrant.

It’s highly irresponsible for Congress to even consider this proposal before uncovering the truth about the still-shadowy spying program. In recent weeks, Congress has made strides towards more vigorous oversight and authorized subpoenas for key information, but the proposed bill would short-circuit such scrutiny.

Tell your representatives to stand strong against the Administration and stop the abuse of surveillance powers.

Follow the EFF link and find you Senators Number (if it isn’t already on speed dial by this point) and let them know what you think. Although your call to voice your opinion opposing government sponsored wiretapping will probably be monitored, and will probably be used against you in the near future. Maybe it’ll be enough to make you ineligible to vote next year! Yay!

Chicago Cinema Holocaust

The first EVER Chicago Cinema Holocaust will be THURSDAY August 2nd at 8:30PM. The location will be 1304 N Western Ave. Apt #3 Chicago, IL 60622. On the East side of Western Ave just one block North from Division on the corner of Western and Potomac above a Puerto Rican restaurant. RSVP by leaving a comment on this post.

The film will be the Herschell Gordon Lewis’ classic BLOOD FEAST which will follow about an hour of TERRIBLE, BASE, and PSYCHOTIC trailers, shorts, animations, and otherwise stupid pieces of crap.

Tell everyone to tell everyone. If this goes well, we wil expand and conquer for future showings. Hope to see you all there. Death to decent Cinema!

growing pains me too

As I sit in front of my computer at 2:30 in the morning and realize that there is a thing called sleep and my body is deprived of it, I think of all of you out there who will happen upon my site in the next few days and think “Well what the hell is going on?” So to make sure you rest as easy as I do tonight, there is going to be some change around here. For the better I think. Worse if you have poor eyesight, but it should be a lot more fun for you to look at (assuming there is anything worth looking at in the first place) as soon as all the shit is sifted through. Some pages are up already and will remain aside from future minor tweaks, other (the gallery!) have a lot of work to go, but will be up and pretty before the leaves start to change. Hang in there. With God’s help we may get through this yet. To all a good night.

Keys to the City of Chicago

Here’s a photo of myself and Chicago artist and swell guy Pete Mars shooting the shit with Mayor Daley at the Cool Globes Reception here in town.

He asked me to take over for him, but I believe in the electoral process so I had to sadly decline. So vote you assholes. Keep people like me out of government. And people like Guiliani, and Bush, and, Hillary, and Cheney, and all those other clowns who only care about us so much as we have things for them to steal (time, money, votes, power, etc…)
